It’s hard or impossible to get most vacuum cleaners right up to the edge of a floor and it’s not a good idea to try getting too close to edges with them, anyway. Ram the baseboards repeatedly with a vacuum cleaner, and after a while they’ll sport all kinds of dings and scrapes, much like an old guardrail on a sharp curve.

But dust or
dander that falls here is easy to remove since there’s never any foot traffic to grind dirt into the floor. An angle
broom moved quickly along the edges before
vacuuming provides a quick and easy cleaning. Alternatively, use a brush and/or crevice attachment on the
vacuum cleaner.
