Broom

An angled broom is best for sweeping interior floors. Unlike corn brooms of old, the synthetic bristles on a modern angle broom aren’t likely to shed and they’ll get more dust and dirt out of the way, too. The angled bristles are indispensable for getting at the stuff that always seems to accumulate under cabinets and in corners.

Use a “street-sweeper’s broom” with plastic or nylon bristles for garages, unfinished basements, sidewalks and driveways. The easiest sizes for use in most homes are 18 inches to 24 inches wide. They’ll take care of the dust, dirt, grit and sand you’ll likely encounter; they can even remove light accumulations of fluffy snow in very cold, dry weather.
