Ergonomics

Ergonomics are features and design elements on products and equipment created to optimize use and reduce strain and risk of injury from repetitive motion. Most of today’s equipment and accessories, such as vacuums, mop handles, dustpans, brooms and toilet bowl brushes, feature ergonomic designs. Some of these features are noticeable and others are not, so look for products that conform to your hands and body and are lightweight.

Repetitive motions can lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) over a period of time. MSDs can affect the body’s muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Housekeepers tend to perform repetitive motions while cleaning include vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, sweeping and mopping.
