Computer towers, monitor cases, computer speakers, modems, printers, cordless phones, answering machines — all these appliances are typically housed in high impact, hard plastic cases. These components will need frequent dusting. Consider buying plastic covers for computer equipment — you’ll do far less dusting and extend the life of heat-generating components such as processors and memory chips so long as you remember to remove the cover when using the computer.
For fingerprint marks or heavier soiling, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol applied to a soft cloth, such as a paper towel, then buff clean with a clean, soft cloth as needed. Rubbing alcohol will work, but avoid products containing perfumes or any skin moisturizer.
Cleaning fluids should never be poured or sprayed onto any electronic device to reduce shock hazards. Do not use abrasives to clean plastic cases. Most plastics scratch easily, increasing the need for future cleaning.
See Computer keyboard for specific instructions pertaining to computer keyboards.
