A liquid used for hand washing of dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils, dishwashing detergent is very mild. When diluted to varying degrees, it can be used for a surprising number of cleaning tasks throughout the house. It is different from dishwasher detergent, discussed in a separate entry. It’s not recommended for use in automatic dishwashers since its sudsing action will cause a quick overflow from the machine into the kitchen.
