Lisa A. Gilmore MBA, MSW
Lisa A. Gilmore, MBA, MSW is a Technical Advisor for Chronic Disease and Prevention at FHI 360 , a leading human development organization dedicated to improving lives by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. She currently lends her expertise to the National Asthma Control Initiative (NACI), a mobilizing effort to put asthma guidelines into practice—launched by the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP), coordinated by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Since 2009, Lisa has been involved with the NACI’s efforts to encourage clinicians, patients, and others to follow key actions to improve asthma care and control based on the NAEPP guidelines. She provided technical assistance to 28 projects in three NACI-funded partnership programs that expanded evidence-based practices across clinical, home, school, and community settings; produced a series of expert-led webinars for diverse audiences; and helped to develop a NACI strategic plan, action guide, and quarterly e-newsletter that won NIH Plain Language Awards. She also contributed to several NHLBI publications, including the updated Asthma & Physical Activity in the School.
Lisa operates the www.DCAsthma.org Web site, which appears at or near the top of Google search listings on “asthma coalition," and has co-authored journal articles on the role of asthma coalitions in achieving policy and practice change. Recruited by public health agencies, hospitals, and universities for her partnership-building and chronic disease management expertise, Lisa is currently involved in the following activities as a volunteer subject matter expert and advocate: DC Department of Health Care Finance’s Medicaid Managed Care Chronic Disease Collaborative, DC Department of Health’s Asthma Steering Committee, Children’s National Medical Center’s (CNMC) Asthma Disease Management Team, CNMC/George Washington University’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute Community Advisory Board; and Chesapeake Applied Research Network for Emergency Medical Services for Children Advisory Board.
Lisa’s former positions include Executive Director of the National Capital Asthma Coalition, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grantee; Director of Partnerships and Development for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids; and Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she led the award-winning National Organ and Tissue Donation Initiative and National Fatherhood Initiative. Lisa holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Social Work from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Math and Economics from Brown University.
