Advisory Board Bio

Dr. Thomas Jones

Dr. Jones is an associate professor in the Department of Hotel Management at the W.F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His research interests include the fields of environmental, facilities, and housekeeping management.

His industry experience includes executive positions in food and beverage management, and in the area of employee recruitment and selection. Prior to his career in hospitality education, Dr. Jones was president of an executive search firm.

Dr. Jones has co-authored a textbook on convention management for the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Motel Association and two textbooks on housekeeping management for John Wiley & Sons, and is the author of several referenced articles, particularly in the area of indoor air quality.

He is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE), Pacific CHRIE, International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the Nevada Professional Facility Managers Association (NPFMA).

He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Dakota, a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Doctor of Education degree from Arizona State University.
