Philip Brandl

Phil Brandl is president of the International Housewares Association—The Home Authority—a full-service trade association for the housewares industry. In December 2000, the association changed its name from National Housewares Manufacturers Association, which it had been called since its incorporation in 1938. IHA also sponsors the International Home & Housewares Show, the largest housewares and home goods products trade show in the world, which is now held in the spring in Chicago. Until 2004, the Show, formerly called the International Housewares Show, had been held in January since 1939.

Mr. Brandl joined IHA in March 1994 as director, marketing & trade development, was named vice president of the Association in 1996 and president Feb. 1, 1997. During his tenure as director, Mr. Brandl was integral in the development of the Great Performance Alliance initiative, a business improvement process based on enhanced retailer-supplier communication. He also was responsible for the areas of media relations/communications, marketing and industry education.

Prior to joining IHA, Mr. Brandl was vice president of the National Association of Service Merchandising, a national trade association for distributors and manufacturers of general merchandise and health and beauty products. He also has 15 years experience in the retail sector, holding operations and merchandising management positions with Prange Way and Copps Department Stores.

A native of Manitowoc, Wis., Mr. Brandl received a bachelor's degree in business administration & marketing from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. Mr. Brandl and his family live in Delavan, Wis.
