Should you clean your carpets? Most people only think about cleaning their carpets when they start to look dirty. But there are more important reasons for cleaning your carpet.

1. Health: Your carpet acts like a filtration system for the air in your home. Carpets catch pollutants such as pollen, pet dander, smoke and mold spores. But as with any filtration system, it must be cleaned to be of benefit. Most carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning of carpets at least once a year.

2. Longer carpet life: Carpet can be one of the biggest investments in your home. Professionally cleaning your carpet yearly along with daily vacuuming will make your investment last long into the future.

3. And, of course, Beauty: A clean carpet makes the whole house brighter and gives your home that clean feeling people just love.

What system do we use? There are many types of carpet cleaning systems and in most cases these systems work well and do a good job if done right.

We at STEAMTEK have chosen to offer two of these systems:

1. Steam Extraction: We first start by thoroughly pre-vacuuming all areas to be cleaned. We then pre-treat with a safe, biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning solution. This solution is scrubbed deep into the carpet fiber to loosen soils. After the solution has been given time to work we extract all the soil and cleaning solution using heated water from our Steamway truck mount cleaning unit. We finish off by protecting all furniture legs, and with the use of a carpet groomer to fluff carpet fibers. This system typically allows the carpet to dry to the touch within four hours.

2. Encapsulated Dry Cleaning: This is a safe non-toxic form of cleaning in which the carpet is pre-treated and scrubbed with a cleaning solution that crystallizes around soil particles and suspends them away from the carpet fiber. A high-powered vacuum is then used to remove all soil, leaving a beautifully clean carpet. With this process carpets are typically dry in less than two hours. This system is best used between Steam Extractions to keep the carpet healthy and looking its best.
