Also known as second hand smoke, ETS contains both combustion products from the burning end of a cigarette, cigar, or pipe and smoke exhaled by a smoker. ETS is a “known human carcinogen” (cancer-causing agent) and is classified as such by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. National Toxicology Program and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which is a branch of the World Health Organization.
