Extension poles are telescoping tools that attach to scrubbers, strip washers, sponges, squeegees and paint rollers to reach high windows and walls without using a ladder. Also known as extension handles, these tools feature two or more locking sections that can extend one’s reach as high as 30 feet. Today’s poles are lightweight and ergonomic. Janitorial goods suppliers and some home centers and hardware stores sell these cleaning and painting extension accessories.
An eight-foot pole is ideal for use in most homes with standard ceiling heights. Consider a longer pole for outdoor use, or if your home has vaulted ceilings or any wall higher than the normal 7 1/2 feet to 8 feet above the floor.
