Good mats at all entrances of your home will do more to cut down cleaning than any other piece of equipment. Stop dirt at the door! Put a 2’x3’ or larger mat outside the door so people have to take several steps on the mat before they reach the door. Use the AstroTurf mats made by Solutia. They work even if you don’t wipe your feet. They last forever and are easy to clean.
Inside, use mats of olefin or nylon that look nice and finish the job of drying and removing grit and soil from feet.
This is a minor investment that will last for years — I have some that are twenty years old now! AstroTurf mats are available at your local home improvement store or from the Cleaning Center.
