AsteriskRating Disclaimer

Reviewing products, like reviewing movies or restaurants, is arguably a subjective process (even for well-funded consumer groups) based on the review criteria (what the reviewer considers important) and the unique perspective of the reviewer. Thus, when considering The Housekeeping Channel's reviews, please do not use the numerical product ratings (e.g., "9.5 out of 10") for direct product comparison purposes since these represent the unique 'take' of each reviewer, and will often vary qualitatively and quantitatively from product to product.

Do rely on the text of the reviews for issues to consider when purchasing similar products, and do consider the scientific data supplied (for example, information from the Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval-related research) that will help you in your decision making process. We believe the "truth" about products can only be discovered by weighing, then averaging, a number of factors and credible viewpoints based on available resources and science, then making buying decisions based on what is important to you.

Pros

  • Great for quick clean ups.

Cons

  • Pricey replacement pads.

Stains and spills appear suddenly and often there is no time to clean an entire floor over one small spot. The solution to quick floor cleanups could be the Swiffer WetJet.

There is very little assembly required on this device. The handle fits together easily and the solution pops into the dispenser without a hitch. It is suggested that you prime the pump of the dispenser prior to using to ensure that the liquid is going through to the sweeper. After assembling the Swiffer it would also be a good idea to check the batteries from time to time to ensure that the pump is still working.

The Swiffer Wetjet is a lightweight sweeper, with a flexible swivel head enabling you to get to hard-to-reach places, like around the bathroom bowl. There is also a rough, scrubbing edge on the left side of the swivel head for extra tough stains and spills.

Swiffer WetJet cleaner can be safely used on stone, linoleum, ceramic tile, marble or vinyl floors. There is also a cleaner available for hardwood floors.

The cleaning pads are triple layered, super absorbent, disposable pads that snap onto the bottom of the sweeper. We found that the pads cleaned the spill and/or stain and the surface dried almost immediately after using them. Some of the stains we tested were Jell-o, milk and mud. All three were absorbed into the pads without a problem.

Of note is the lack of scent from the Swiffer cleaner. Unlike competitors the scent from the Swiffer is not overwhelming and will not leave a room smelling of chemicals after using the sweeper.

Another feature we liked was the rubberized grip on the handle making it easy to bare down on the sweeper while scrubbing.

One of the best reasons to get the Swiffer is for pets and kids coming in and out of the house. In fact, the Swiffer is lightweight enough for children to clean up after themselves and their pets with ease.

The Swiffer is not meant to replace a through cleaning for your floors but it is a great solution between major messes.
