Rating Disclaimer
Reviewing products, like reviewing movies or restaurants, is arguably a subjective process (even for well-funded consumer groups) based on the review criteria (what the reviewer considers important) and the unique perspective of the reviewer. Thus, when considering The Housekeeping Channel's reviews, please do not use the numerical product ratings (e.g., "9.5 out of 10") for direct product comparison purposes since these represent the unique 'take' of each reviewer, and will often vary qualitatively and quantitatively from product to product.
Do rely on the text of the reviews for issues to consider when purchasing similar products, and do consider the scientific data supplied (for example, information from the Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval-related research) that will help you in your decision making process. We believe the "truth" about products can only be discovered by weighing, then averaging, a number of factors and credible viewpoints based on available resources and science, then making buying decisions based on what is important to you.

Dryer Max Dryer Balls are a healthier alternative to softeners or chemical dryer sheets. They are literally rubber balls with nodules on them. These nodules lift and separate the laundry, thus aerating it and causing it to fluff up.

The Dryer Balls claim to reduce drying time by 25%. The instructions say to set your dryer for the normal time and then set it back 15 to 25%. This takes some practice and you’ll have to gauge this by the fabrics in the dryer. We dried 100% cotton towels and found they did dry quicker and were noticeably more fluffy when they came out of the dryer.
If you are not satisfied there is a 2-year performance guarantee whereby if you send back the balls the company will replace them with new ones. Priced at $9.99 at the local pharmacy but you may be able to find them for less online.
The only real down side of these Dryer Balls is the noise. When they are bouncing around in the dryer they sound like a pair of rubber tennis shoes. If you are not sitting in close proximity to the dryer this may not be a problem, however, if you are nearby, it could get irritating.
