AsteriskRating Disclaimer

Reviewing products, like reviewing movies or restaurants, is arguably a subjective process (even for well-funded consumer groups) based on the review criteria (what the reviewer considers important) and the unique perspective of the reviewer. Thus, when considering The Housekeeping Channel's reviews, please do not use the numerical product ratings (e.g., "9.5 out of 10") for direct product comparison purposes since these represent the unique 'take' of each reviewer, and will often vary qualitatively and quantitatively from product to product.

Do rely on the text of the reviews for issues to consider when purchasing similar products, and do consider the scientific data supplied (for example, information from the Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval-related research) that will help you in your decision making process. We believe the "truth" about products can only be discovered by weighing, then averaging, a number of factors and credible viewpoints based on available resources and science, then making buying decisions based on what is important to you.

Pros

  • Tide to Go is small enough to be carried and concealed easily.
  • Tide to Go is amazingly effective on fresh food and drink stains.

Cons

  • Tide to Go may not work as effectively on stains that are greasy or have dried on clothing.

Imagine an eraser for stains on your clothing. What would you give to have a magic marker sized tool that removed food spills from the front of your shirt as they happened? We’ve all used stain sticks and pretreaters to remove set in stains, but Tide to Go actually removes fresh food and drink stains right when they happen without a washing machine.

Remove any excess food or drink from the stain by blotting with a clean cloth. Press the tip of the product directly onto the stain allowing it to retract and release solution onto the clothing. Keep pressing the tip repeatedly onto the stain until enough solution has been released. Rub the stain gently with the tip of Tide to Go and watch the stain disappear. Blot the surface with a clean cloth to remove any excess cleaning solution.

Incredibly easy to use, Tide to Go is designed to remove most fresh food and drink stains immediately when they happen. There is no need to use water or any other detergent with Tide to Go. The toughest of stains may respond well to Tide to Go combined with blotting with water or a clean wet rag, although most stains I tried were removed with just the Tide to Go marker.

Tide to Go did a great job on coffee, chocolate, soft drink and most food stains. It did not do as well on greasy stains and is not very effective on stains that have dried or set into clothing. Tide to Go is safe to be used on most washable fabrics, but it’s best to test it in a hidden spot before ruining your favorite shirt.

The size and convenience of Tide to Go make it a great tool that can be easily carried in a purse or briefcase. Those constantly on the move and prone to occasional food and drink accidents will appreciate the ability to remove a stain in minutes without having to remove their clothing.

Tide to Go is available at most major grocery and drug stores. It is sold in single-packs ($2.99 suggested retail) and three packs ($6.99 suggested retail), with five packs ($8.99 suggested retail) being available at discount club stores like Sam’s and Costco.
