Thoroughly rinse food particles out of the grinding chamber right after every use. This prevents food particles from drying on the blades and inside the chamber.

Unplug the food processor periodically and wipe the base with a clean, damp cloth or sponge to clear away any stray food particles. Polish the plastic case with a dry, soft cloth. Remove any stuck-on foods using a cloth moistened with a solution of water and hand-dishwashing liquid. Follow up with a wet wipe and dry polish as above.

You may immerse most grind chambers and blade assemblies in warm, soapy water. Many may be washed on the top rack of an automatic dishwasher, but first check manufacturer use and care instructions in the owner’s manual.

Can’t find the manual? Try the manufacturer’s Web site and look for links such as “product support” or “use and care tips.” Some makers offer manuals for downloading in electronic form.

Don’t use abrasive pads or cleansers on any part of a food processor. Doing so will scratch the soft plastics used in most processor cases and grinding chambers. Soak out stuck-on foods and spots instead.

Warning:

Never immerse the processor’s base in water. As with any electrical appliance or electronic component, never direct water or cleaner spray directly onto the case.
